Many times we hear "I love your name, Thimble Pleasures!" Owner, Julie Holbrook actually found it in a list of play on words collected by the editor of Quilter's Newsletter Magazine while the idea of opening a shop was still in it's infancy.
Julie moved to Chapel Hill from Boston in 1992. In November 1993, a new building was just finished in Carrboro and it seemed perfect. Location, location, location. Many of the businesses there were owned by women, and the community is very supportive of the arts.
We enjoyed our location so much, we kept expanding until there was nowhere else to grow. So in the summer of 2009, we moved to Elliott Road in Chapel Hill. Elliott Road is now in the heart of the Chapel Hill business district and is well-approximated to I-40. The move was a good choice for us, and hopefully for our customers.
