What's New
April, May, June 2008
Since you are here, you can see that we have a whole new online look! We are proud of our new website designed by the wonderful staff at Gloderworks, who literally can make magic happen. We are working on learning how to update it ourselves so be patient with us while we work toward getting everything perfect. Fabric, books and patterns will be available in our webstore soon. Meanwhile in the "Brick and Mortar" store, many bolts of new fabric have come in over the past few months. We have new classes and lots of old favorites still being offered so stop by or call to sign up soon. You may also sign up and pay online now.
Due to the popularity of our on-going groups, we have added several new ones this quarter. We will be starting a “Stitch Lounge” on the first Sunday evening of each month from 4-8 p.m. The store will be open for shopping and you are welcome to use our machines. Bring a project or we will give you some ideas and help you get started. We’ll have music to sew by, (but you may bring your iPod) and food and drinks.
A new on-going embroidery group called Embroider-It Friday will begin in April and will continue meeting on the third Friday of each month. We will eat, chat and watch our machines stitching away, creating beautiful designs for us. If you are interested in learning about embroidery, but don't have an embroidery-capable machine yet, you are welcome to come and use one of our machines.
Summer Camps for Teens and Tweens will be happening this summer! We know you are planning your kids and grandkids summer now, so we have set the dates for our Combo Camps where kids will learn to sew and knit in the same week. We have a week for the 10-13 year olds who will be given a brand new Bernette sewing machine as part of the camp fee, and another week for Teens, ages 13 and up.
Upcoming Quilt Show: The Forsyth Piecers and Quilters Guild of Winston-Salem will host a show, Quilting Pleasures, June 13 and 14, 2008. The show will be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 2570 Harper Road, Clemmons, NC. Hours are 10:00 a.m.– 7:30 p.m. on Friday, and 10:00 a.m.—5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Julie will be a vendor at the show, so be sure to stop by!
We appreciate your overwhelming support in our effort to reduce our use of plastic and paper bags. So, in observance of Earth Day, April 19, we are offering you a free pattern for grocery sacks that you can make yourself in about 30 minutes. Share the pattern and make lots of bags, but most important, remember to use them! We recommend using our Super Muslin.
